Embalming is a surgical process that can be similarly compared to cosmetic surgery. Embalming comprises three processes: disinfection, preservation, and restoration of the dead. Embalming preservation is not permanent.
The longevity of its effects can vastly differ from body to body depending on the skill of the embalmer, circumstances surrounding the death and the duration of time between death and embalming.
Benefits of embalming: offers bereaved families the gift of time and is particularly valuable for bodies who are being transported beyond state lines or from country to country. With the exception of certain special cases, embalming is not required by law.
